Chlorhexidine Hydrochloride
Chlorhexidine Hydrochloride is an antiseptic and disinfectant. It is highly potent against both gram (+) and gram (-) bacteria. It is only used topically.
Chlorhexidine is used in the following conditions-
- Prophylactic mouthwash for gingivitis and other oral infections caused by bacteria
- Dental disorder
- Bad breathe
- Gum bleeding
Recommended use is twice daily oral rinsing for 30 seconds, morning and evening after toothbrushing. Usual dosage is 15ml (marked in cap) of undiluted.
Chlorhexidine hydrochloride may cause the following side effects-
- Teeth discoloration
- Taste disturbances
- For topical and oral gargle use only.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Avoid getting the medicine into the eye
Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the formulation.
