Racecadrotil
Racecadotril is a medication that belongs to the class of drugs called enkephalinase inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of fluid in the intestine, which helps to reduce diarrhea.
- The recommended adult and pediatric dose is 30 mg three times daily.
- The maximum daily dose is 90 mg.
- The dosage should be adjusted according to the age and weight of the child.
- Racecadotril should be taken before meals.

- Racecadotril should be used with caution in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment.
- It should be avoided in cases of dehydration.
- Racecadotril should not be used in patients with moderate to severe liver impairment.
- Patient with history of angioedema of any other aetiology should be cautious.
- Administer racecadotril in combination with rehydration therapy.
- Avoid use in case of prolonged vomiting.
- Concomitant use with ACE inhibitors should be avoided.
Contraindication
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients

- Severe liver dysfunction
- Children under 3 months of age
