Benzoyl peroxide is a dermatological agent. It works as a antibacterial agent. It also causes the skin to dry and peel off.

 

Benzoyl peroxide is indicated for the treatment of-

  • acne
  • rosacea
  • Clean the skin thoroughly before application.
  • Initial: Apply once per day.
  • Maintenance: Gradually increase application to 2 or 3 times per day if needed or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Side effects associated with benzoyl peroxide include-

  • itching
  • peeling
  • skin redness
  • allergic reaction

Benzoyl peroxide may induce photosensitivity. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

 

Contraindication

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to benzoyl peroxide.
