Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin A + Vitamin K is a veterinary drug that belongs to the class of antiprotozoals and antiparasitics. Pyrimethamine is a folic acid antagonist that inhibits the replication of protozoa, while sodium salicylate and sulphaquinoxaline have antibacterial properties. Vitamin A and Vitamin K are included to support the animal's immune system and improve the clotting ability of the blood.
Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin A + Vitamin K is indicated for the treatment of coccidiosis, infectious diarrhea, and bacterial infections in cattle, sheep, and goats.
The dosage of Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin A + Vitamin K is as follows:
- Cattle: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight
- Sheep and goats: 0.5 ml per 5 kg body weight
The drug is administered once daily for three consecutive days by intramuscular injection.
The following adverse reactions may occur after the administration of Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin A + Vitamin K:
- Hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria, pruritus, and anaphylaxis
- Gastrointestinal disturbances such as vomiting and diarrhea
- Hematological abnormalities such as anemia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia
- Neurological signs such as ataxia and tremors
- Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin A + Vitamin K should not be administered to animals with a history of hypersensitivity to sulphonamides.
- The drug should be used with caution in animals with renal or hepatic impairment.
- Do not use in lactating animals as milk may contain residues of the drug.
- Use of the drug in pregnant animals should be avoided during the first trimester.
- The drug should not be used in horses, as it may cause fatal adverse reactions.
Contraindication
The following animals should not be treated with Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin A + Vitamin K:
- Horses
- Animals with a history of hypersensitivity to sulphonamides
- Lactating animals.
