Clobetasol Propionate + Neomycin Sulphate + Nystatin

This topical medication is indicated for the following conditions-

  • Recalcitrant eczemas.
  • Neurodermatoses.
  • Psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis) where secondary bacterial infection or fungal infection is present, suspected or likely to occur.
  • Other inflammatory conditions which do not respond satisfactorily to less active steroids.

Adult: As cream/ointment. Each g contains clobetasol propionate 0.5 mg, neomycin sulfate 5 mg and nystatin 100 000 units. Apply a thin layer onto the affected area(s) 1-2 times daily until improvement occurs. Not to be used for >7 days without medical supervision.
Child: >2 yr: As cream/ointment. Each g contains clobetasol propionate 0.5 mg, neomycin sulfate 5 mg and nystatin 100 000 units. Apply a thin layer onto the affected area(s) 1-2 times daily until improvement occurs. Not to be used for >7 days without medical supervision.

Side effects more or less common with the medication are-

  • Pruritus
  • local skin irritation /skin pain
  • Skin atrophy
  • striae
  • telangiectasias
  • Erythema
  • Avoid prolonged treatment.
  • Caution when applied to area near to the eyes.
  • Caution is needed when treating patients with renal impairment, elderly and children, pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication.

  • Primary cutaneous viral infections
  • rosacea, acne vulgaris and perioral dermatitis
  • Neonates and infants
