Clobetasol Propionate + Neomycin Sulphate + Nystatin
This topical medication is indicated for the following conditions-
- Recalcitrant eczemas.
- Neurodermatoses.
- Psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis) where secondary bacterial infection or fungal infection is present, suspected or likely to occur.
- Other inflammatory conditions which do not respond satisfactorily to less active steroids.
Adult: As cream/ointment. Each g contains clobetasol propionate 0.5 mg, neomycin sulfate 5 mg and nystatin 100 000 units. Apply a thin layer onto the affected area(s) 1-2 times daily until improvement occurs. Not to be used for >7 days without medical supervision.
Child: >2 yr: As cream/ointment. Each g contains clobetasol propionate 0.5 mg, neomycin sulfate 5 mg and nystatin 100 000 units. Apply a thin layer onto the affected area(s) 1-2 times daily until improvement occurs. Not to be used for >7 days without medical supervision.
Side effects more or less common with the medication are-
- Pruritus
- local skin irritation /skin pain
- Skin atrophy
- striae
- telangiectasias
- Erythema
- Avoid prolonged treatment.
- Caution when applied to area near to the eyes.
- Caution is needed when treating patients with renal impairment, elderly and children, pregnancy and lactation.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication.
- Primary cutaneous viral infections
- rosacea, acne vulgaris and perioral dermatitis
- Neonates and infants
