Triclabendazole

Triclabendazole is an anthelmintic drug and it is the most recent derivative of Benzimidazoles.

This drug is indicated for the treatment of

  •  Fascioliasis

In patients 6 years of age and older, two doses of 10 mg/kg given 12 hours apart is the recommended dose of Triclabendazole. The 250 mg tablets are functionally scored and can be divided into two 125 mg halves. If an exact dosage adjustment isn't possible, round the dose up.

  • dizziness
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • hives
  • itching
  • headache
  • shortness of breath
  • decreased appetite
  • fever
  • diarrhea
  • Prolonging the QT
    Electrocardiographic recordings in dogs revealed a transient lengthening of the mean QTc interval [see Nonclinical Toxicology]. When EGATEN is used in patients who receive medicines that prolong the QT interval, monitor ECG in patients with a history of prolongation of the QTc interval or a history of symptoms compatible with a long QT interval.
