Terconazole

Terconazole is a triazole antifungal used to treat topical or vaginal fungal infections.

Terconazole is indicated for-

  • Vulvovaginal candidiasis
 

Terconazole is available as vaginal cream.

Adult: As 0.4 or 0.8% cream: Apply intravaginally at bedtime for 7 consecutive days or for 3 consecutive days, respectively. As 80 mg supp: Admin intravaginally at bedtime for 3 consecutive days.

How to apply vaginal cream/ointment:

Terconazole can cause the following side effects.

  • Vulvovaginal burning
  • pruritus
  • irritation
  • itching
  • headache
  • dysmenorrhoea
  • genital, body and abdominal pain
  • flu-like syndrome
  • Discontinue if irritation, sensitization, fever, chills or flu-like symptoms develop.
  • Caution should be exercised in pregnancy and lactation.
