Sodium Selenate

Selenium is a mineral found in different foods. It has a very good antioxidant property that protects cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Selenium is indicated for the following conditions-

  • Selenium deficiency
  • Malnutrition

The recommended allowance for selenium is as follows-

Children 9-13 years 40 micrograms/day
Adults and children 14 years and up 55 micrograms/day
Pregnant women 60 micrograms/day

  • Take the drug as per the prescription or as suggested by your health professional.

Sodium selenate is generally well tolerated. Occasionally, the following side effects may appear-

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Bad breath
  • Selenium supplementation have been linked to an increased risk of skin cancer. As a result, persons who are at a high risk of developing skin cancer should avoid using these supplements.
  • Selenium overdose can be fatal.

Contraindication

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the formulation.

There is no known contraindications of the preparation in terms of food and drinks.
